3.3 Cookies, Consent Mode & Similar Technologies
(a) What cookies and similar technologies are
We use cookies and similar technologies to store or access information on your device (for example, browser cookies, pixels, tags, scripts, local storage, SDKs and device identifiers) in order to operate the Service, remember your choices, understand how the Service is used, and (where permitted) measure and improve our marketing. Under UK/EU rules, non-essential cookies generally require your consent, while strictly necessary cookies may be used without consent where they are required to provide the Service you request (for example, security and core site functionality).
(b) Cookie categories we use (and the data they may collect)
Depending on your settings, we may use the following categories:
Strictly Necessary Cookies (Always On)
Used to provide core functionality you request (e.g., secure log-in, load balancing, fraud prevention, session continuity, consent preference storage).
Data examples: session identifiers, security tokens, consent status, basic technical data (such as device/browser settings needed to display the site).Functional / Preference Cookies (Optional)
Used to remember your preferences (e.g., language, UI settings) and enhance your experience.
Data examples: saved preferences and configuration choices.Analytics / Performance Cookies (Optional)
Used to understand how visitors use the Service (e.g., pages visited, navigation paths, feature usage, error/performance diagnostics) so we can improve the platform.
Data examples: page views, interactions, approximate location derived from IP, device/browser details, timestamps, aggregated usage metrics.Advertising / Marketing Cookies (Optional)
Used to measure campaigns and (where enabled) show more relevant ads, manage frequency, and build audiences for remarketing.
Data examples: ad interaction data, conversion events, campaign parameters, and identifiers that enable attribution and measurement.
(c) Google Consent Mode (v2) and what it means
We use Google Consent Mode (v2) to ensure that Google tags (e.g., Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement) adjust their behaviour based on your cookie choices. Consent Mode uses consent signals such as analytics_storage and ad_storage, and also includes ad_user_data and ad_personalization (which relate to advertising data sharing and personalised ads).
- If you grant consent for a category, the relevant cookies may be set and measurement/advertising features may operate normally.
- If you refuse consent for a category, Consent Mode restricts those tags and prevents the relevant storage (cookies) for that purpose. In some implementations of Consent Mode, Google may still receive limited “consent state” signals and cookieless pings (i.e., signals without advertising/analytics cookies) to communicate your consent status and support aggregated measurement/modelling.
- Where
ad_storageis denied, Google states that new advertising cookies are not set, and previously set third-party advertising cookies are not used (except for limited purposes such as spam/fraud). Google may still receive certain limited request data such as the full page URL, which can include ad click information contained in URL parameters.
(d) Consent records (data collected about your choices)
When you interact with our cookie banner/settings, we may collect and store a record of your consent choices to demonstrate compliance and to honour your preferences.
Data examples: your consent status per category, date/time of choice, banner version, and technical identifiers needed to apply your preferences (e.g., a consent cookie or local-storage entry).
(e) How to manage or withdraw consent
You can manage cookies at any time by:
- using our cookie banner / cookie settings controls (to accept, reject, or customise); and/or
- adjusting your browser settings to block or delete cookies (note: blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect core functionality).
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.
(f) Third-party cookies and technologies
Some cookies/technologies are placed by third parties that provide services to us (for example analytics, performance monitoring, and advertising partners). These third parties may process information about your device and your interaction with our Service in accordance with their own policies. We aim to configure these tools to respect your cookie choices via Consent Mode and our consent settings.
